Most comedians make up a lot of their act and play it out like it happened in real life. It’s expected. It’s part of the act. But it is only good comedy if it reflects real life. If their jokes are prejudicial stereotypes they are no better than jokes about African Americans in a minstrel show. Dane Cook’s representation of atheists in this act is about on par with that sad page of comedic history.
Dane cook is simply sharing a quite common fantasy of the overtly religious to have a run in with an atheist and show them up as fools with their biblical references and faith based logic.
